Before delving into the trends at Cersaie 2023, it’s essential to understand that the tile industry does not change trends as rapidly as the fashion world. Rather, it follows an evolutionary path, focusing on design and technology to create breathtaking new looks.
Last year, Cersaie showcased a trend centred around polished precious stones and bold onyx patterns. Vibrant colours were prominent across the exhibits. These trends continue to remain relevant. Cersaie 2022
However, this year, Cersaie took a different turn, focusing on two major trends that are shaping the world of porcelain tiles:
The Organic Texture: The focus in 2023 was on achieving an organic and tactile texture. Matte finishes, once considered flat, have now embraced the beauty of veining and texture. The goal is to create realistic textures, such as those found in natural stone or plaster. The level of subtlety and softness in these textures is a remarkable shift, emphasizing a “silent luxury.”
Collaboration and Customization: Another prominent trend was the growing emphasis on collaboration between manufacturers, architects, designers, artists and even furniture companies. The idea was to encourage unique design and customization, making every piece of porcelain tile a personal and artistic expression. These collaborations result in products that are not just beautiful but also tailored to meet specific design needs
Some memorable collaborations showcased at Cersaie 2023 included partnerships between Pierre Leonni and Atlas Concorde, Ferruccio Laviani
and Lea, Atlas Concorde, and Zaha Hadid’s architectural firm. These collaborations allowed designers to provide CAD drawings, and manufacturers, in turn, worked closely to bring these designs to life. The Role of Knowledge and Tradition:
